confused I'm still contemplating if whether I should go for the Type R flywheel ($212 shipped, brand new) weights 15 lbs *or* with Fidanza (sp?) which weights around 8 lbs for $340 (from group buy).

Which flywheel do you guys think I should get? I'm going to get Stage II clutch Specialties and this will be going into an '95 GSR w/ JRSC, daily commuting car.

Type R flywheel (includes pilot bearing) P/N 22100-P73-005, was $198.05 plus shipping 8/99 from John Eagle Acura, 281-589-0600 (TX). I guess inflation bumps that up to your recent pricing.
I find they still have the best price for stock parts.
I didn't go with a lighter flywheel as mine's a daily driver too.

theres nothing wrong with a lighter flywheel for a daily driver. I run 12lb lightened stock on my sohc, going to 6.6lbs very soon. okay so maybe thats a little too light.

when you go lighter, its easier to shift faster, dont forget that one.

A friend has a Jun ultra light and it makes the car a bitch to drive in the city, every stop sign or light the car tries to die out. This could be because he has B18C5 swap with the wrong ECU (the orginal ECU is to a B17). As well his idle is bad, idle speed is all over the place. I still think it might help our cars that have the extra mass of the blower to spin up though.

Anyone with a blower have an ultra light (like 8lbs or less) and do you have the same probs?

JRCivic has the JR flywheel on his daily driver/racecar. I was looking into the groupbuy but they never got back to me so while they were off taking care of something else, I decided to go with the JR Flywheel from JRCivic for my JR GSR biggrin

It's actually heavier then the Findanza that they are selling by Jim's close calculations wink

The Type R flywheel is only slightly lighter than the GSR flywheel. I got the JUN flywheel (10 lbs) in my civic for $400. It's pretty nice and not too light. There is a fair amount of chatter but that may be associated with the ACT clutch and not the flywheel.

If I had to do it again, I would get a 9 lb aluminum flywheel. It's not too light and it's a lot cheaper than a chromoly flywheel.

The JR flywheel and the Fidanza flywheel are the EXACT SAME product... which means that they weigh the same amount. I am unsure of the exact weight, but I know that it is very close to 8 pounds... 8.12 sounds right.

I just received my Prelude 2.2L flywheel from Fidanza... man is it beautiful !!! There is scalloping in the outer frontside edge to reduce the rotational weight... it is a real shame this thing will be covered up.
